Flutter app development services

We build production Flutter apps: one Dart code base, compiled to native code, with an architecture chosen for the app's complexity. Every app CarrySo has published on Google Play is built with Flutter.

What is Flutter?

Flutter is Google's open-source UI toolkit for building apps for mobile, web and desktop from a single code base written in Dart. Release builds are compiled ahead of time to native machine code, and Flutter draws its own widgets, so an app looks and behaves the same on every supported platform.

Why businesses choose Flutter for mobile apps

  • One code base for Android and iOS reduces build and maintenance effort
  • Fast iteration during development with hot reload
  • Full control over the UI, which suits branded and custom designs
  • Strong performance for animation-heavy and media-heavy screens
  • A mature package ecosystem and first-party Firebase support

Cross-platform app development with Flutter

Cross-platform development means shipping the same app to Android and iOS without writing it twice. With Flutter, the UI, business logic and most integrations are shared. Platform-specific work is limited to things like permissions, store configuration and the occasional native plugin.

When an app needs a native API that no maintained package covers, Flutter platform channels let us call Kotlin or Swift code directly. The rest of the app stays shared.

How we build Flutter apps

When Flutter is not the right choice

Flutter is not the best fit for every project. If the app is mostly a thin wrapper around brand-new OS features, such as widgets or system integrations released in the latest iOS or Android version, native development may reach them sooner. We'll tell you during discovery if we think that applies to your app.

Flutter project process

  1. 1. Discovery and scope

We go through who the app is for, the one job it must do well, and what can wait. You get a written scope with the screens, features, integrations and release target.

  2. 2. UX flows and interface design

We map the main user journeys before writing code, then design screens that follow Material guidelines on Android and feel right on each platform.

  3. 3. Build in short iterations

The app is built in Flutter in small increments, so you can install test builds on a real phone early and change direction cheaply.

  4. 4. Testing

Business logic, parsers and data layers get automated unit tests, and release builds are checked on physical devices before they reach users.

  5. 5. Store release

We prepare the store listing, screenshots, privacy policy, Data safety form and release build, then handle review and the staged rollout.

  6. 6. Maintain and improve

After launch we watch crashes, reviews and release age, keep SDKs and target API levels current, and ship improvements.

Frequently asked questions

Is Flutter good for production apps?

Yes. Flutter is used for large production apps and is maintained by Google. All of the apps CarrySo publishes on Google Play are production Flutter apps with real users, crash reporting and regular updates.

Flutter vs React Native: which is better?

Both build cross-platform apps from one code base. Flutter compiles Dart to native code and draws its own UI, which gives consistent visuals and strong performance for custom or media-heavy interfaces. React Native renders native components from JavaScript and suits teams already working in React. We specialise in Flutter.

Can you add features to our existing Flutter app?

Yes. We review the code base first (architecture, dependencies, tests and crash data), then agree a plan for new features, including any clean-up the features depend on.

Which Firebase services do you use with Flutter?

Across our apps and internal tools we use Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Authentication, Storage and Hosting. We pick services per app rather than adding everything by default.
