SaaS mobile app development

We build mobile applications for SaaS businesses, and we build mobile-first SaaS products from MVP to production. A SaaS mobile app with us means a Flutter app for Android and iOS with authentication, onboarding, user accounts, dashboards, subscriptions and payments, push notifications, an API-backed backend, analytics and an admin panel, plus store deployment and maintenance after launch.

App
Flutter for Android and iOS from one code base
Backend
Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions) or your existing API
Subscriptions
Google Play Billing and StoreKit through Flutter in-app purchase packages
Operations
Admin panel, remote config, analytics, crash reporting

Two kinds of SaaS mobile app projects

What we build for SaaS
ProjectTypical starting pointWhat we deliver
Mobile app for an existing SaaSA web product with an API and paying customersA Flutter app that talks to your API, matches your account and plan model, adds push notifications and mobile-only features, and ships to both stores
Mobile-first SaaS productAn idea and a target customerAn MVP with auth, onboarding, the core workflow and a subscription, on a backend and architecture that grows to the full product

SaaS mobile app architecture

A SaaS app is a client to a service, so the architecture starts with the boundary between the two. The mobile app owns the interface, local caching and offline behaviour. The backend owns identity, entitlements, data and billing state. Subscription status is always verified on the server, never trusted from the device alone.

  • Flutter app with feature-first structure and a repository layer over the API
  • Authentication with Firebase Auth or your identity provider (email, Google, Apple, SSO)
  • Backend on Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions, or a REST/GraphQL API you already run
  • Subscriptions through Google Play Billing and StoreKit, with server-side receipt validation and entitlement checks
  • Push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging, driven by backend events
  • Analytics and crash reporting from the first release
  • An admin panel for plans, users, content, feature flags and support
  • Remote configuration for feature flags, minimum versions and rollout control

SaaS app building blocks we implement

Common SaaS features and how we approach them
FeatureOur approach
AuthenticationFirebase Auth or your provider; Sign in with Apple and Google; secure token storage; biometric unlock where useful
OnboardingShort guided setup that gets to the first result quickly; plan selection after value is shown, not before
User accounts and profilesAccount, workspace and role models designed with your backend so web and mobile agree
DashboardsFast, cached summary screens with pull-to-refresh and offline placeholders
Subscriptions and paymentsIn-app subscriptions per store rules, free trials, upgrades, restore purchases, server-verified entitlements
Push notificationsEvent-driven notifications, per-user preferences, deep links into the right screen
APIs and backendCloud Functions or your API; pagination, retries, versioning and error handling designed in
AnalyticsProduct events for activation, retention and conversion; crash reporting with Crashlytics
Admin panelWeb admin for users, plans, content and configuration (we build ours in Flutter web)
Multi-tenant dataWorkspace or organisation scoping, role-based access and security rules where the product is team-based

From SaaS MVP to production

A mobile-first SaaS MVP needs more than a prototype: real sign-up, a real subscription and a real backend, or you learn nothing about willingness to pay. We scope the MVP to one core workflow plus that commercial plumbing, then grow it in releases. Because the MVP is built on the production architecture, there is no rewrite between validation and scale.

App store rules that affect SaaS apps

Both stores have rules about digital subscriptions: in-app purchases are generally required for features consumed in the app, prices and terms must be shown clearly, restoring purchases must work, and account deletion must be available. We design the subscription and account flows around these rules so review does not become the bottleneck.

Running a SaaS app after launch

SaaS apps change constantly, so operations matter as much as the first release. We ship remote configuration and update prompts from day one, keep target API levels and billing libraries current, and maintain the app on a regular release cadence. Our own portfolio is run this way through an admin panel and Cloud Functions we built for the job.

SaaS mobile app project process

  1. 1. Discovery and scope

We go through who the app is for, the one job it must do well, and what can wait. You get a written scope with the screens, features, integrations and release target.

  2. 2. UX flows and interface design

We map the main user journeys before writing code, then design screens that follow Material guidelines on Android and feel right on each platform.

  3. 3. Build in short iterations

The app is built in Flutter in small increments, so you can install test builds on a real phone early and change direction cheaply.

  4. 4. Testing

Business logic, parsers and data layers get automated unit tests, and release builds are checked on physical devices before they reach users.

  5. 5. Store release

We prepare the store listing, screenshots, privacy policy, Data safety form and release build, then handle review and the staged rollout.

  6. 6. Maintain and improve

After launch we watch crashes, reviews and release age, keep SDKs and target API levels current, and ship improvements.

Frequently asked questions

What is SaaS mobile app development?

It is building the mobile application side of a software-as-a-service product: an app users install on Android or iOS that signs in to an account, syncs with a backend, and is paid for through a subscription. It includes the backend, subscription and admin work the app depends on.

Can you build a mobile app for our existing web SaaS?

Yes. We integrate with your existing API and account model, add mobile capabilities such as push notifications and offline caching, and release to both stores. Your web product stays the source of truth.

Do we need a backend for a SaaS MVP?

Yes, because accounts and subscriptions need a server that owns the truth. For an MVP we usually use Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions), which keeps the first release small and can grow with the product.

How do subscriptions work in a Flutter SaaS app?

Purchases go through Google Play Billing on Android and StoreKit on iOS, using Flutter in-app purchase packages. The backend validates receipts and stores entitlements, so the app checks the server for access rather than trusting a local flag.

How long does a SaaS mobile MVP take?

It depends on how many workflows the first release includes and whether the backend exists already. A focused MVP with auth, one core workflow and a subscription is a matter of weeks of build time, not months, once the scope is written. We give a timeline in the scope document.
